Q: How hard is it to make astonishingly fast progress without it feeling like you’re not going to be able to keep at it longer than two weeks?
A: Depends who you ask! For some people it will be really easy. For other people it will be mega hard. That’s why our coaches are in constant conversation with our clients, trying to ensure that what they are doing is sustainable for them. It’s alright wanting to lose X pounds per week but if you can’t keep it up then you’re better off setting a more realistic target.
Remember, the input doesn’t change in relation to the person doing it. What changes is the perception of how hard it is. You can change the input, no problem, as long as you change your expectations. Less input = slower progress. Less input = easier to sustain.
You wouldn’t expect to achieve a three hour marathon time whilst running at a five hour marathon pace. Similarly, you wouldn’t expect to lose 3lbs a week, whilst only doing enough to lose 1lb a week. BUT it’s absolutely vital that you know what you can do sustainably.
No point aiming for 3lbs a week if that’s too hard for you. 1lb a week for 20 weeks = 20lbs down. 3lbs a week for 3 weeks then blowing up because it’s too hard and going back to the beginning = 0lbs down.
Our most successful clients work closely with our coaches to become self-aware enough to know when and how to step on the gas without burning out, and when to ease off and adjust the goal in order to ensure long-term sustainability.
That’s how just about all of our amazing long-term transformations are done!
